Disgorged at the harbour in Busan one is engulfed in a miasma of frenetic activity. One quickly notes the variation in body shape and facial feature of the indigenous Korean juxtaposed to the Japanese. The tempo of activity does not seem to change as one gets into the city in order to find accommodation. The Koreans seem to have a ferocious work ethic and educating/education is very high on their priorities list

We stayed one day and booked another ferry over to Jeju island about ten hours steaming away. Arrived “early doors” and got a taxi to the south of the island where we found accommodation and stayed in this languid subtropical location until we were required to return to “Ol Blighty” as we had a purchaser for a property we had advertised and things needed to be finalised. On the plane leaving the island the ground crew lined up, saluted us and then gave us all an animated wave. So cute.

Flew to Seoul and went up to the 38th parallel. Very interesting, and still quite tense. Spent a few days looking at architecture and Zaha Hadid’s new build project, which we resolved to revisit once completed. Flew back to U.K.
