Georgina & Dominic left on the early evening flight for Sydney and straight back into the maelstrom that is “professional life”. However, we had the opportunity to go to a New Years Chamber Orchestra concert in Yokohama. Tickets were a part of a Christmas present from number one daughter and her husband. The concert was scheduled start time was 19:00pm so we had opportunity to look around China Town in Yokohama.

Friday 08.01.16 Decided to go to the worlds largest and busiest fish market Tsukiji downtown Tokyo. One needs to be there early as they start to pack up about 08:00am! There is such a variety of sea food available from mollusks, crayfish, octopus to exceptionally large tuna and so much more. Later a visit to Hamarikju Gardens, which was built on the site of Shogun Tokugawa in the C17.

Later in the afternoon jumped onto a train down to Yokohama again to do some shopping.
Overall, the elegance and sedateness of Japanese cosmopolitan life is enchanting. Manners, courtesy and respect can be found everywhere.Shop assistants bow and present your change on a small tray, presented to you with both hands Though somewhat confusing at first, (largely because of unfamiliar “Kanji” writing” integrated infrastructure, rail travel, tube and bus services work accurately to stated times of arrival and departure. One senses that achieving this is a matter of status and pride in the metropolitan urban environment. Not bad going for a population of 13.35 million people.
On Sunday a trip to Hakone beckons. It lies in the Kanagawa Prefecture to the south west of Tokyo, an hour and a half by car. I believe that the National Park offers some stunning views of Mount Fuji, so looking forward to this trip as it presents an opportunity to get out of the city and see some countryside.
